The popular north Watford hair salon run by 68-year-old Richard Liska has long been a mainstay of the area, and has counted Watford stars like Roger Joslyn, Graham Taylor, Bobby Downes and Alan Mayes among its customers.
Liska is a devoted supporter of the Hornets, and became so well-known to the players and management of the club that he was even asked to travel with them on Concorde at one point.
Speaking to a reporter from the Watford Observer, he said:
“Actually, it was through Bobby Downes I became acquainted with my wife, Sue. We’ve been married for nearly 39 years now. She’s been such a great support over the years.”
Shops based within the city, like this one, always know they can turn to places that provide poster printing, to help them advertise their services to local people.
Alongside running his salon, Liska has also been prominently involved with the Chamber of Commerce in the Borough, even spending two years serving as its president.
He began learning hairdressing at the age of 14, and started as an apprentice the following year, before leaving the profession to become a caterer. He resumed his hairdressing career when he was 21, opening his Courtlands Drive salon at the age of 24.
