Conversion plans submitted for Watford building
Watford could be set to get a big new supermarket, if plans for the conversion of a former nightclub building in the city are given the go ahead by the local council.
The building in question used to be home to the Pryzm nightclub and is situated on The Parade in Watford. In addition to the club, it was also formerly occupied by branches of Laser Planet and Iceland, with these being located above the nightclub. Both units are now lying vacant however, and it is them that the developer behind the scheme wishes to convert.
According to the application that has been submitted to the council, the two empty units would be combined. This would be achieved by demolishing walls that currently separate the two. It is thought that the new and larger unit could house a supermarket, but this is not certain yet.
When new amenities like supermarkets open in the city, they sometimes find that brochure printing from Watford shops can help to advertise any special offers they are running.
The developer that has submitted the plans is Watford Parade (Gibraltar) Ltd. In them, it states that the conversion would create a better environment for the general public and make it easier to let the space.
A date for the council to announce its decision on the project has not yet been made known.
