A civic hub in Walthamstow will host rolling skating classes this winter as part of a wellbeing initiative operating in the Waltham Forest area.
Young people in East London aged between 8 and 16 can learn to roller skate as part of the Walthamstow Wellbeing Programme this year. The wintertime class is called “Learn 2 Skate” and free admission is offered to participants who own roller skates.
Those wishing to join the class who do not have skates can hire a pair for £10 and can use them for four weeks. Safety gear to wear while roller skating is provided by the event organisers, but attendees who have their own helmets and pads are welcome to bring them along to the class.
Organisers of educational sporting activities for young people sometimes work with banner printing services to create signage that highlights health and safety rules to follow during classes.
The upcoming wellbeing session is designed to help attendees get fit while learning to skate. Led by experienced roller skater Siobhan, the class includes a chance to discover practical skating techniques, freestyle and play games with others in a friendly and supportive environment.
Learn 2 Skate will now run at Walthamstow’s Central Library on December 5. The class begins at 5 pm and ends at 6.30 pm. The library is straightforward to find on the High Street in Walthamstow.
