A respected nature preserve in Walthamstow is holding a weekend event designed to encourage younger visitors to engage with wildlife.
Local families with a passion for nature can get involved in an event called the “Wonderful Wildlife Weekend”. Designed for children of all ages, the session lets visitors explore a pond and its surrounding areas in search of the animals that call them home.
Children participating will encounter worms, woodlice, tadpoles, toads and more, while immersing themselves in guided activities. These include employing nets to find pondlife and searching beneath logs to locate minibeasts.
Wildlife parks and preserves sometimes count on professional printing services to create branded maps they can issues to visitors on admission.
The weekend event is planned for both children and their parents to enjoy, and families coming along will find no booking is necessary. No equipment is required to take part either, but coming in suitable attire for the weather is advised.
The Wonderful Wildlife Weekend will run at Walthamstow Wetlands on Sunday, July 19. The event starts at 1 pm and ends at 3 pm, and the reserve is based at 2 Forest Road in Walthamstow. Admission is free to all and the meeting point is the outdoor classroom located beside the Engine Room.
All children joining the session must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the full duration of the event.
