Alzheimer’s Research UK is poised to benefit from the efforts of Walthamstow’s Caroline Woods, who intends to ride for three days, covering a distance of 190 miles starting on World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21.
Her original challenge is based on a journey undertaken by her mother and she will be joined by her sons. Printing services can be handy for organisations in diverse economic sectors. Woods told the Yellow Advertiser:
“We want this ride to not only be a great memory that we can treasure as a family but also something that will help make breakthroughs in dementia research possible.”
The family hopes to raise more than £2,500. Fundraiser officer Chrissie Hyland is extremely positive about the big effort. She underlined that it was a highly personal pilgrimage.
In 1948, Caroline’s mother, June Linger, opted to go cycling in France when the country had not recovered fully from the war. Woods is unsure what motivated her mother to go on the trip and she cannot enlighten Caroline about what she was up to because she has been affected by Alzheimer’s.
Linger was not great at communicating in French. This made her journey even more difficult because of misunderstandings. From the East End of London, Linger was familiar with war damage before she went to France.
