Arqiva and Waltham Forest Council got together to deliver the project. Street furniture and lampposts will make things happen for tablet and smartphone users. Business Cards from Walthamstow can help start-ups and other SMEs.
Each free Wi-Fi session can last for up to two hours. The high-grade access can be obtained by people who are prepared to enter an email address. Liaquat Ali, a councillor who leads on the transformation agenda for Waltham Forest Council, told the Yellow Advertiser:
“This will allow visitors to Walthamstow, the beating heart of our borough, to stay connected with their friends and family for free without using up mobile data. It means they will be able to easily tell their contacts about all the great shops and activities in the town centre. This will provide a huge boost to the local economy as people spend their time and money in Walthamstow rather than going further afield.”
Nicolas Ott is a senior member of the management team at Arqiva. He focuses his attention on the telecommunications section of the business. He commented on the enthusiasm which local authorities have for public Wi-Fi. Waltham Forest is one of many London boroughs to sign up with Arqiva. The council is looking out for more town centres that could gain from Wi-Fi provision.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
