An upcoming event in Walthamstow will allow young people to learn new wilderness abilities.
Designed for those aged between 12 and 16, an outdoor skills course is taking place in the East London conservation area known as Walthamstow Wetlands. The upcoming event will empower those taking parts to recognise and correctly identify a wide variety of plant and animal species thriving at the location along with helping them develop a brand-new skillset.
New abilities waiting to be unlocked on the course include starting fires safely, building an outdoor shelter and identifying plant life that is safe to eat. Organisations and institutions offering new courses and experiences for young people sometimes use flyer printing services to create branded leaflets that can be left in community hubs like libraries and youth centres.
Whether young people have a growing interest in ecology, bushcraft skills, or ecology the unaccompanied session in Walthamstow will help them get a flavour of what it might be like to work outdoors while involved in different conservation activities.
Those participating on the day should dress appropriately for outdoor weather and wear shoes with a closed toe; trainers are an ideal option. People with longer hair should tie it back as the event will involve working with fire and tools.
The course will take place on Sunday, March 6 at Walthamstow Wetlands on Forest Road in Walthamstow.
