Pupils in Walthamstow donate to charity

Schoolchildren in Walthamstow have opted to assist local families suffering from deprivation.

Walthamstow’s Forest School donated gifts to Lloyd Park Children’s Charity (LPCC). Printing services from Walthamstow may help third sector organisations to promote good causes. LPCC should find that the donated clothes, milk and nappies are useful in their mission to assist new parents.

Demand for help from LPCC surged by over two-thirds during the last six months of 2017. It is fair to say that the Baby Bank has caught the imagination of local children. LPCC was able to provide useful items to almost 250 families during the course of the year. Sarah Marsh, a service manager at the Baby Bank, told the East London and West Essex Guardian:

“We are so grateful to the students and the Forest School Community - they have been so kind and generous. The families we meet really feel the impact of the stress they are experiencing and these donations will go some way to helping them enjoy what should be the most joyful time spent with their children.”

The community action lead at Forest School explained that the children switch between different causes over time. Harriet Dyke pointed out that the school had given to Shelter and Walthamstow food bank in recent times. Waltham Forest is one of the poorest London boroughs and it is far from comfortable by national standards.
