This is the fifth event and it will brighten up the month of July. Waltham Forest Council, Create London and The Barbican have come together to produce a provisional line-up. Poster printing from Walthamstow can be used to add colour to events. Councillor Clare Coghill is the leader at the Forest Council and she told the East London & West Essex Guardian:
“Walthamstow Garden Party is a fantastic celebration of Waltham Forest’s thriving culture and communities. We are excited to see such an excellent line-up for the fifth edition, in particular some of the areas curated by artists living and working in the borough, which demonstrate why the Mayor of London chose Waltham Forest to be the first ever London Borough of Culture.”
The Mayor of London intends to invest in the cultural amenities of Waltham Forest. To that end, he has pledged to spend over £1.3 million on the area next year. Taster events at the Walthamstow Garden Party should whet the appetite for what is to be made available.
Barbican Young Poets have been scheduled to contribute to the garden party. The poets shall engage with social issues through their work.
Fellowship Island is going to do its bit by having conversations about urban food production. The aim of this effort is to raise the profile of nature within the community.
