Housing near Walthamstow gets the green light

A proposal for 45 homes in the vicinity of Walthamstow received planning permission recently.

The development will be located just to the north of Walthamstow. The company behind the homes is owned by Waltham Forest Council and is called Sixty Bricks. During the next five years, it aspires to construct 1,000 properties. Brochure printing can be highly effective when companies wish to showcase new ventures.

It has been decided that some of the 45 homes will be made accessible at affordable rates. Some of the units have three bedrooms, while others are studio apartments. Key workers and local people are to be favoured when it comes to deciding who will live in the buildings. The chair of Sixty Bricks, Councillor Simon Miller, argued:

“We are striving to tackle the crisis which prevents our young people attaining houses they can make into their homes, while also investing in improving their life chances by providing the training and employment opportunities they need.”

Another councillor, Louise Mitchell, is right behind the vision of Sixty Bricks. Councillor Mitchell is responsible for housing and she wants decent homes to be provided for all residents.

Meanwhile, Walthamstow’s Marlowe Estate has seen a recent move towards shared ownership. Under a shared ownership initiative, the tenant pays less rent because they buy a stake in the property.
