Tunbridge Wells to enjoy fringe-style summer festival
The town of Tunbridge Wells is set to launch its own take on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer.
The Edinburgh-inspired event, entitled the Artsbox Festival, will present a variety of shows including comedy, music, theatre and art and is the creation of Jocelyn Cheek.
Visual Arts Manager and Front of House for the Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells, Cheek was influenced to put on a fringe-style festival in her town after attending the famous festival in Scotland’s capital. She commented on the development:
Festival promoters can make good use of poster printing services to create colourful advertisements to call in the crowds.
The event will showcase both national and local artists in a variety of different categories with entertainment for all ages. Live music, drop-in watercolour painting classes, travel talks, and acts at the comedy cafe will be spread out over the seven day festival in the Kent town. For younger visitors there will be a competition for visual arts and a churchyard wildlife safari trail.
The first Artsbox Festival will commence on Saturday, August 10.

“I have spent many summers at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, caught up in the infectious energy of a city transformed by arts events happening on every corner. Tunbridge Wells has such a wealth of local talent and ArtsBox is a great opportunity to give these artists a stage.”
