Tunbridge Wells Festival, which ran over the August bank holiday weekend, attracted crowds of visitors from all over the region, with a broad line-up of live music, dance acts, rappers and magic shows. A talent competition was also launched that is set to run throughout the coming months, with the winner being announced as part of a grand finale show in October.
Steve Mason is the chief organiser of the festival. He commented on the fact that the festival had a strong emphasis on local people, saying:
“Supporting talented people in Tunbridge Wells is a key part of the not-for-profit festival, which is by the people for the people. We want to support our local performers, traders and businesses in any way we can. A town the size and importance of Tunbridge Wells deserves its own festival.”
Programmes and Brochures are often a key piece of literature for festivals, not only because they help festival-goers to find out what's on and when, but also because they are often kept as souvenirs of the event. Locally-run festivals like this one often opt to support regional businesses by using locally-based brochure printers.
Tunbridge Wells Festival organisers used their Twitter feed to announce how happy they were with this year’s proceedings. They tweeted:
“Thank you to all those who helped make our first Festival a success.”
