Creative hub may launch in Tunbridge Wells
The creative sector of Tunbridge Wells could receive support with the creation of a hub by a local partnership.
The county council, the borough council and representatives of business have come together. They intend to use a building on Monson Road. The development might lead to the purchase of more note pads in Tunbridge Wells. Councillor Jane March has told the Times of Tunbridge Wells:
Councillor March has added that the borough council has two main objectives. It wants to see more job creation in the sector. It also hopes that more training will become available for people in the local area.
The borough council has decided that it should be the landlord of the property. However, the idea is that the premises will be managed by Tunbridge Wells Media Centre (TWMC) for a period of five years. TWMC has experience in the desk rental business.
The new venture should be a fresh model for TWMC. This is because the focus will have to be on making an environment suitable for the creative industries. Entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals with relevant aspirations should be encouraged to network and cooperate. Simon McArdle, the managing director of TWMC, has said that two years has been spent on preparing for the initiative.
