A tigers tale coming to Tunbridge Wells
A beloved book for children featuring a tiger will be acted out on stage this spring in Tunbridge Wells.
Based on the classic picture book that was illustrated and written by Judith Kerr, a stage adaptation of The Tiger Who Came to Tea will be performed in Tunbridge Wells. Children’s books often require expert graphic design services to set the images and typography on their front covers.
The theatre adaptation of the much-loved story features lyrics and original songs by renowned actor, composer, and director David Bernard Wood OBE. For his work, the Times newspaper once described Wood as “the National Children's Dramatist". The first production of the play featured the actors Alan Atkins, Devon Black, and Abbey Norman.
The performance in Tunbridge Wells will celebrate the best-selling book’s 54th anniversary, securing it as a timeless favourite. Considered a short story, The Tiger Who Came to Tea was originally released by publisher HarperCollins back in 1968. It tells the tale of an anthropomorphised tiger inviting himself to tea with a girl named Sophie and her mother.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea will be performed live on stage at the Assembly Hall Theatre on Crescent Road in Tunbridge Wells on Monday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 26. Both shows start at 12:00 pm and the show is suited to children aged three years and over.
