The South Birmingham Cat Protection League is appealing for a brave, cat-loving member of the public to step forward to fill the position of Cat Catcher for the charity. The successful applicant would need to have experience of dealing with cats and would be expected to help catch wild or feral cats and look after the animals at their home before the cats could be checked over by a professional vet.
Di Wilson is the Press Officer for the South Birmingham Cats Protection League. Di spoke about the vacancy, saying:
“It can be a stinky job, and it’s not easy. We’re talking about wild cats who do put up a fight. We have a very small team of volunteers, all working from their own homes. The branch desperately needs new people to help them.”
There are a number of Signs created using poster printing in South Birmingham which appeal for lost and missing cats; or animals which might have once had homes but are now living as strays.
The new Cat Catcher at the Cat Protection League would be helping to find these cats and ensure that they find loving homes. Last year, this branch of the charity re-housed 90 cats which would have otherwise been left out on the streets.
