Solihull to celebrate centenary of famous duo

The show 100 Years Celebration of Laurel & Hardy - Presented by Neil Brand is currently on the road and will arrive in Solihull at the end of April.

2026 marks 100 years since Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel exchanged individual contracts with Hollywood's Hal Roach Studios, just prior to making their historic screen debut together in 45 Minutes from Hollywood. The next year, they officially became a comedy duo that went on to be successful in 130 or more countries worldwide.

Writer and composer Brand is widely acknowledged as the leading authority on silent movies and piano improvisation. The latest restorations and newly found reels have enabled him to discover some genuine comedy treasures. These include extended versions of several silent movies, notably You're Darn Tootin.

His thoughts on Laurel & Hardy and the origins of modern cinema are popular with audiences. He is also preparing a TV documentary, not to mention a book entitled 'The Boys'. There will be both a Q&A and a Meet and Great once the show finishes.

Ticket prices begin at £23.50. Stationery printers can provide a valuable resource for those engaged in the promotion of a stage show or theatrical event.

100 Years Celebration of Laurel & Hardy - Presented by Neil Brand is due to be held at 7.30 pm on Friday, 24 April at The Core Theatre in Solihull.
