South Birmingham to celebrate indie sounds

The indie/folk band Peggy Sue, supported by Grip Tight, is due to play a gig in South Birmingham towards the end of November.

Originally formed in Brighton in 2007, the due is now based in London. They have delivered five albums, notably the widely praised "Choir of Echoes". Their fifth album "Vice" was put together at various locations around London and emerged in 2020 on their own Souvenirs Records label. It featured the single “Slow Fade”, released back in 2017. The album was made with the help of Ben Gregory (Grip Tight), Dan Blackett (Landshapes), and Euan Hinshelwood (Younghusband), and was produced by Jimmy Robertson, who had worked on the band’s previous albums. It was described by TheFountain.scot as a “great album”, with the reviewer noting that it is a coming together of the harsh and the smooth.

Peggy Sue is made up of Katy Young and Rosa Slade, who have worked with other all-female groups such as Deep Throat, and have toured with names like Jack White, La Luz and Local Natives.

The band offers an eclectic musical mix and should appeal to a broad spectrum of people, but perhaps more so to those in search of something a little different.

Peggy Sue's gig has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 21, at The Hare and Hounds, South Birmingham.
