South Birmingham prepares to welcome American folk singer

Country indie-folk musician Courtney Marie Andrews is currently on tour and due to play South Birmingham early in March.


This singer-songwriter and artist was born in Phoenix, Arizona. Her initial musical influences included Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, but more recently she has been inspired by Motown, soul and the rock group Little Feat.


Courtney started gigging aged 15 and subsequently met producer River Jones, who produced her first album, “Urban Myths”. Stinkweeds Record Store then distributed it nationwide through 29 outlets. She began opening for bands touring across the U.S and was soon headlining in Phoenix at Modified Arts.


Her second album "Painters Hands and a Seventh Son" came out a year later. It received a lot of positive feedback from fellow musicians. Some 30,000 MP3 promotional Copies were given away free through MySpace.


She has opened for Death Vessel, Rocky Votolato, Sera Cahoone, Obi Best, Meiko and Marianne Dissard. Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins also invited her to perform at a leukaemia benefit concert. Courtney is presently working on her new album, which is due to be released in the near future.
