The blues/rock musician, Rebecca Downes, is currently on tour and due to play a gig in South Birmingham towards the end of May.
This Wolverhampton-born artist first performed at the age of 13. Her early influences included Ella Fitzgerald, but increasingly these became rock-orientated. After studying Art at University, she continued to write and perform whilst holding down a job.
2011 saw Rebecca team up with Steve Birkett, himself a singer-songwriter. They 'clicked' immediately and began collaborating, eventually leading to her giving up work. The EP 'Real Life' came out in 2013 along with a first album 'Back to the Start', both to much critical acclaim.
She won the 'Female Vocalist and Emerging Artist' categories at Britain's 2016 Blues Awards. This was followed up in 2018 by 'Female Blues Vocalist' at FORM UK Blues Awards. Mad Hat Records, her own label, was subsequently established on a commercial basis.
Rebecca plays live normally with a five-piece band delivering songs from her LPs, notably 2016's 'Believe' and 2022's 'The Space Between Us', plus some new tracks as well as some classic covers.
Tickets cost £15.40 inclusive of a transaction fee. Promotional Pens and other items can be an effective form of publicity for a future concert or musical event.
Rebecca Downes' gig has a starting time of 7.30 pm on Thursday 23rd May at Hare & Hounds, South Birmingham.
