The singer/songwriter Andy White is presently on tour and due to play a gig in South Birmingham in mid-January.
The Belfast-born musician writes guitar-based pop-orientated folk songs. It was his initial 1985 EP ‘Religious Persuasion’ and subsequent 1986 first album ‘Rave on Andy White’ that led to him breaking through. In the intervening years, he has released 20 albums, several poetry Books as well as a novel.
Andy combines punchy lyrics with the ability to discover an effective hook line. His work documents the world today, love and loss, politics and living in Belfast, Europe and Australia.
Winner in 1992 of the much-respected Hot Press Songwriter of the Year. He has collaborated with Peter Gabriel, got together with Tin Finn to form ALT, toured worldwide and picked up some of Ireland's biggest music awards along the way.
Andy has now returned to touring in the UK with his new record ‘This Garden Is Only Temporary’. Each of his albums focus on a different stage in his life and have their own distinct sound, fusing poetry with original lyrics.
