South Birmingham awaits the return of folk singer

The folk musician Matt Deighton is on tour and due to play a gig in South Birmingham in mid-December.

2022 marks this distinctive artist's re-emergence from the musical shadows. For almost 20 years, he was the man most often cited as the heir to Nick Drake. The number of music press articles questioning his long absence is quite comprehensive.

Matt successfully fronted Mother Earth and played in Paul Weller's band. Indeed, Noel Gallagher recommended him as his replacement when he pulled out of a European tour. To this can be added an extensive back catalogue. The album ‘Villager’ is widely regarded as a first-class folk record and featured in a Mojo Buried Treasure article.

He is the artist other musicians are genuinely eager to enter into collaborative projects with and have done so on several albums. In 2007, he worked closely with Chris Sheehan on The Bench Connection and The Common Good includes contributions from Steve White and Mick Talbot.

'One of this country’s best kept secrets… a sense of timelessness enshrouds Deighton', according to The Huffington Post.

Tickets cost £19.80 inclusive of a booking fee. When publicising a forthcoming concert or musical event it is worthwhile considering utilising Promotional Products.
