Solihull gears up for tribute to rock n' roll icon

The tribute show ‘Whole Lotta Shakin' - The Shakin’ Stevens Story’ is currently on tour and is due to arrive in Solihull towards the end of May.

Michael Barratt, professionally known as Shakin' Stevens, became synonymous with pop music in the ‘80s, with hits such as 'Green Door', 'This Ole House' and 'You Drive Me Crazy'.

This show tells the story of the star’s rise from humble beginnings and stars Rebel Dean, who has appeared in BBC’s Casualty and Only Fools and Horses in the West End.

Dean is supported by a live band composed of Brad Jones on guitar, Lewis Jordan Brown, Lukey Dodd and Steve Evans, along with screen projections.

The first part charts the young Welshman's rise from his initial tracks with 'The Sunsets', recording in studios and touring abroad. It ends with his role in 'Elvis The Musical' and his 'Oh Boy' TV appearances.

The second part of the show consists of a complete concert, including the appearance of the now iconic pink jacket and denim jeans as were seen in the 1980s.

Ticket prices begin at £25.00. Graphic design can play an important function in the production of a stage show or theatrical event like this one.

‘Whole Lotta Shakin' - The Shakin’ Stevens Story’ has a starting time of 7.30 pm on Friday, 23 May at The Core Theatre, Solihull.
