QR Codes become more popular on business cards

QR Codes are seeing a surge in popularity thanks to a recent trend for including the scannable codes on digital Business Cards.

South Birmingham is home to a number of printing companies who currently provide business card printing. Birmingham-based entrepreneur Nicholas Holzherr spoke to The Drum magazine to give his tips on how traditional Business Cards can be enhanced by adding a scannable bar code to the design.

QR Codes, otherwise known as Quick Response codes, are a square barcode that, when scanned using a mobile phone or other handheld device, transfers information onto the device. For example, a QR code could contain information that directs the device’s web browser to a company’s website, or it could push out a virtual business card to the device so the person’s contact details would be stored automatically.

Holzherr gave some interesting tips, including making sure the code is big enough, making sure there is plenty of contrast between the two colours of the code and making sure that there is sufficient space in the area around the code.

These are all elements that should be considered when designing the business card and once the design is in place, the QR Codes will be simple for a professional printing company to produce.

South Birmingham businesses can use QR Codes on their Business Cards to help bridge the gap between the physical and the online world, something that is becoming increasingly important in the digital age that we live in.
