New agency sought by Marketing Birmingham

An organisation which aims to promote Birmingham as an attractive place to live, work and visit is on the hunt for a new agency to help with its work.

Marketing Birmingham is appealing for a PR firm to help broaden the appeal of the city. The account is worth an estimated £177,000 and would cover Birmingham itself as well as the surrounding regions of Solihull and the Black Country.

At present, Marketing Birmingham is working with McCann Erikson and other national and regional public relations agencies will have the opportunity to pitch for the opportunity to take the account.

Public relations agencies often work alongside wider marketing teams to produce compelling collateral to attract people to an area. Many choose to produce tourism guides using professional leaflet and brochure printers.

South Birmingham is home to Cadbury World, a major tourist attraction that draws in thousands of visitors every year; it plays a big part in the work carried out to attract people to the area. Birmingham’s city centre itself has several attractions which appeal to tourists, such as the Bullring shopping centre and the Mailbox leisure complex. The city is popular with European travellers, for whom it is the most frequently visited city in the country after London.

The deadline for PR companies to pitch for the role is 1st August 2013. Work is expected to start from September 2013 and the contract will initially run for one year with the potential for an extension.
