The aim of those behind the policy is to attract almost £3 billion to the regional economy over the period of the next decade. The marketing materials foe the regeneration proposals have no doubt benefitted from using Logo Design from South Birmingham or the surrounding area. The Local Economic Partnership for Worcestershire has submitted a bid to the government.
Marcus Hart of the district council for Wyre Forest has explained that there is a chance that firms in the area may gain from relief with regard to business rates. Mr. Hart has told The Shuttle:
“We already have our Local Development Order in place which means companies don't have to obtain planning permission and we believe these measures demonstrate that we are open for business in Wyre Forest and economic regeneration is a key priority for us.”
The district council has some brownfield sites prepared, which are apparently ripe for development. It has been reported that some investment has already flowed into the area.
The overarching plan is that an enterprise park within South Kidderminster will be part of a wider initiative. Other sites will be connected within a large Enterprise Zone. These sites have already been designated. They have been set to include a science park within the Malvern Hills, a technology park in the vicinity of Worcester and a gateway into Redditch.
