The impact of finance on the economy of the Birmingham has been highlighted in
the run-up to the Birmingham Post Business Awards (BPBA) and the accountants Jerroms have been instrumental in this. The company sponsored the category of finance. HSBC might bring 1,000 posts to the region within two years.
The potential for growth in the sector is seemingly strong and premium Business Cards from South Birmingham could be in demand in the years to come. Mark Eden, a director for Jerroms, has explained how the local economy has achieved a turnaround:
"In the city, established companies both large and small have seen their fortunes restored while new and early stage high growth businesses have developed. These have been in areas such as specialist manufacturing, IT and professional services.”
Mr. Eden has admitted that it has not all been plain sailing. In particular, he has mentioned the impact of a strong currency on export opportunities. He has also stressed possible skills shortages could be delaying success in some quarters. However, he has confirmed that exports from businesses in the city have been overcoming these challenges.
Lucas Markou, another director for Jerroms, has pointed out that Birmingham has benefited from other assets. He has underlined the positive influence of banks and other sources of finance.
