Ex-teacher gathers 20k from challenges

A former teacher in the Redditch area has reached a milestone in her extreme fundraising efforts.

Sally Turner recently returned from a trek to Iceland that saw the total amount of cash she has drummed up for charity reach the £20,000 mark.

She has so far completed nine challenges, and is now training to head off on a Cambodian excursion.

In the past, she has managed to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, despite having an undiagnosed pulmonary embolism.

If Turner wants to get more donations in relation to her expedition to Cambodia, she could use a Print company in South Birmingham to create more publicity.

She has said that Macmillan – the chief beneficiary of her hard work – has assisted her family.

Speaking to the Redditch Standard, Turner revealed that in May next year, she intends to walk between London and Brighton as part of her training.

Collecting money in the Redditch area recently, she has been prepared to wear a variety of eye-catching costumes. Residents have seen her dressed up as an Easter bunny, a pumpkin and a cupcake.

Commenting on her fundraising efforts, Turner has told the Redditch Standard:

“My friends and family think I’m totally bonkers and can’t understand why I’d put myself through it. But they’re addictive, the very first one I did I was completely and utterly hooked.”
