Portuguese trio Maquina are about to embark on a European tour and are due to play South Birmingham in mid-February.
This band from Lisbon consists of guitarist João, bassist Tomás and Halison, on drum and vox, Their debut LP 'DIRTY TRICKS FOR CLUBBING' came out in January 2023 to make a big impact on Portugal's music scene. With live performances that combine dance and hook-heavy songs, winning over audiences.
Maquina is inspired, in particular, by genres such as Industrial Techno, EBM and Krautrock, exploring the borderlines between them. This involves embodying rock and electronic elements into their own original sound.
'DIRTY TRICKS FOR CLUBBING' consists of pumping beats, unkempt riffs and loud guitars. It challenges accepted practices as well as tests the boundaries of musical orthodoxy. Thus enabling them to manifestly carve out their distinctive identity.
Maquina's live-stage performances clearly demonstrate a genuine musicality. They don't rely on pre-programmed machine beats and instead overturn electronic conventions by playing real instruments. This both electrifies and resonates with audiences at a profound level.
The trio's second album 'PRATA' is due for release next April.
Tickets cost £13.75. Brochure printing is often used to advertise events like these in a cost effective way.
Maquina's show starts at 7.30 pm on Tuesday, 18th February at Hare and Hounds, South Birmingham.
