St Modwen, a regeneration company located in Birmingham, has appointed Mark Allan to be its chief executive.
Allan has been the chief executive for Unite Group for several years and will continue to work there until December. This business has run student developments close to Aston University, and the university campus is easily accessible from South Birmingham.
Bill Owen, currently head of St Modwen, Plans to retire from the regeneration organisation during November. The appointment of Allan was commented on by the chairperson of St Modwen, Bill Shannon, who mentioned the reputation of Allan within the property sector and welcomed the timing of the changeover. He also stressed the value of the experience the Unite Group executive has acquired.
Allan himself said:
"St Modwen has a well-earned reputation as the UK's leading regeneration specialist and I am excited by the prospect of working with the board, senior management team and staff to build on the company's strong foundations and to lead the business in the continued execution of its strategy."
Before serving at the Unite Group, Allan was employed by the financial services company KPMG, where he had qualified as a chartered accountant. In addition, he belongs to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
