Birmingham to enjoy musical icon

The accomplished American composer and keyboardist Brian Jackson is on tour and due to give a performance in South Birmingham in mid-August.

This innovative artist's career spans more than 40 years. He is best known for his pioneering 1970s partnership with the late Gil Scott-Heron, writing, arranging and producing at least 10 albums in eight years.

Brian's flute playing and piano work on tracks such as "Pieces of a Man”, “Rivers of My Fathers” and “Winter in America” is readily identifiable. This earned him a reputation among music fans for contributing to the sound that helped to define an era.

Since the 1980s he has collaborated with the likes of Kool & the Gang, Roy Ayers and Gwen Guthrie, not to mention producing Will Downing's debut album. Yet he remains adventurous and is always open to new ideas.

Brian participated in the 2013 project initiated by Kentyah which included M1, Dead Prez and Gregory Porter, called 'Furthering the Legacy of Gi Scott-Heron'. His first solo album in 20 years, “This is Brian Jackson” was subsequently released in 2022.

Tickets cost £27.50, inclusive of a commission fee. Poster printing can be an effective marketing technique when it comes to the promotion of a concert or musical event.

'An Evening With Brian Jackson' has a starting time of 7.30pm on Thursday, August 10 at The Hare and Hounds, South Birmingham.
