Birmingham comedy festival warm up gig

A comedian who had his first ever comedy gig at South Birmingham College recently played a warm up gig for the Birmingham Comedy Festival.

As Birmingham Comedy Festival gets ready to make the city chuckle for another year, a series of warm-up comedy gigs are happening around the city. One of these gigs featured Mickey Sharma, who had his very first gig at South Birmingham College. The comedy festival runs from 5th to 14th October 2012 and is being advertised around the city using poster printing.

South Birmingham College may have been the venue for Sharma’s first gig, but he is now hotly tipped for big things in the comedy world. Now a rising star of the national comedy circuit, Sharma was once hotly tipped as a cricketer until he got hit in the head with a cricket ball and was badly injured. During recovery, he discovered his talent for comedy and so decided to showcase his talents. Speaking about his first gig, Sharma said:

“I thought I was pretty funny, so when I saw that South Birmingham College was having a showcase for students to perform in the canteen, I thought I’d have a go.”

However, his reception was less than warm and Sharma decided to take a break from comedy for a while. Then, after moving to London, he decided to take it up again and his success has snowballed ever since.

Sharma’s warm up gig for the comedy festival was held at the Glee Club in Birmingham on Wednesday 26th September.
