Earlier in the month, staff from the Redditch branch of supermarket chain Morrisons went the extra mile to raise money for charity at the start of World Cancer Weekend.
Staff members, including Cheryl Lochlin, Jackie Hicks, Jackie Gameson and Simon Jasper collectively completed a gruelling twelve-hour static bike ride in aid of Clic Sargent young lives vs cancer On Friday 15th February.
The team’s joint efforts combined with the generosity of their colleagues and customers raised an impressive £1,500 which will be added to other monies raised by the branch to total a staggering £3,197 to date.
Juliet Brunner, mayor of Redditch Borough Council, was one of the many people who turned out to offer support and encouragement to the team as they endeavoured to achieve their target. For the promotion of occasions such as this, advertising methods such as banner printing often prove effective in raising awareness of and support for the challenge and the cause.
Nationally, Morrisons has raised in excess of £6 million for the charity to date. These funds have been used, amongst other things, to pay for nurse practitioners and for accommodation in which children’s families can stay during their child’s treatment.
A team of artists were also paid to decorate children’s treatment masks with designs of superheroes.
