This project is called the School Rebuilding Programme and it Forms part of the ‘levelling up’ agenda set by the Government. In total, 239 UK schools will be included in the programme, with one of them being Redditch’s own Arrow Vale High School. The refurbishment will see much of the equipment and facilities – as well as the actual buildings – upgraded to create a top class environment for learning.
The fund for the project is made up of £1.8 billion that is set to be divided up between the chosen schools. They were picked on the basis of their existing conditions, with the idea being that the money is spent on the schools that are most in need of it.
Schools based within the town can already rely on useful amenities nearby, such as Redditch Stationery printers that are able to supply everything from official Forms to teaching materials.
Speaking to the Redditch Standard, the MP for the town, Rachel Maclean said:
“This investment will improve the experience of students in Redditch – helping them to learn, develop and achieve their full potential.”
Work will be finished within three to five years.
