Safari park planned for Redditch

Plans to open a wildlife park in Redditch that would house hundreds of animals have been announced with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign.

The man behind the scheme is Martin Blyth, a former teacher who decided to leave his career behind to pursue his dream job with animals. The 28-year-old is hoping to open the Heart of England Wildlife Park in Redditch, with his vision being that of a zoo minus the bars and cages, and the ambition is to eventually have as many as 300 animals living there.

He has already found his ideal site for the park, although the precise location is being kept under wraps. Blyth has also sold his home as a start towards the necessary financing, but has now launched a crowdfunding bid for the remaining £300,000. Brochure printing can often help new attractions promote themselves when they open to the public.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Blyth stated that:

“It won’t be like West Midlands Safari Park, where you drive around and see the animals, nor will it be a traditional zoo with the animals all in cages – it will be a walk-through safari and visitor centre.”

He has already begun negotiations with people from the zoological sector concerning animals for the park and the aim is to be able to open by Easter next year.
