Redditch to welcome 80s star

The singer for one of the most enduring pop bands of the 1980s will be paying a visit to Redditch later in the year, as he embarks on a new tour blending story and song.

Martin Fry is the lead vocalist for ABC, a band that enjoyed massive chart success during the early part of the 1980s. Their 1982 album ‘The Lexicon of Love’ spawned the hit singles ‘Poison Arrow’ and ‘The Look of Love’, and is considered to be one of the seminal releases of the New Pop era. Fry is now heading on tour again, including a stop-off in Redditch.

Fry will perform those iconic songs during this tour but he will combine that with storytelling covering his 40 years as a pop star. According to the Redditch Advertiser, he stated that he had played all over the world during that time, before going on to say:
“But this tour really is something a bit different, an opportunity for stripped-back music and conversation with my fans. It will be really special, I can’t wait.”

ABC still has plenty of fans, so tickets are sure to be in demand. Flyer printing provided by shops in Redditch is one way that the venue could make fans in the town aware of the upcoming show.

Fry will be performing in Redditch on Wednesday, 16 October at the Palace Theatre.
