Redditch hospital hosts advice event

Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital is poised to hold a drop-in session to promote health in winter.

The event aims to assist the public to stay safe, warm and well. Redditch Borough Council has adopted a partnership approach to deliver information about energy and heating. Leaflet printing within Redditch may be used by public and private sector organisations.

Mark Shurmer, a councillor at Redditch Borough Council, told the Redditch Standard:

“By January we are in the midst of the cold winter weather and the Warmer Winter programme not only encourages people to keep warm and safe, it can also mean significant savings for some people.”

The Sports Development Team of the council will attend the event to offer tips on fitness. The regional fire service shall provide individuals with advice on fire safety. Meanwhile, people will be able to access home maintenance information via a Care and Repair Worcestershire team.

The third sector has also stepped up to the plate to help local residents maintain their health. Age UK has the expertise to deliver advice on domestic energy, while Act on Energy has the knowledge to help consumers cope with energy bills. NEW Lifeline will do their bit by promoting community alarms.

Vicky Morris, a chief nurse, has welcomed the campaign. She believes that the collective effort can reduce the winter pressure on the local National Health Service.
