Redditch golfers provide charity boost

The members of Redditch Golf Club proved that they are big-hearted recently, by raising over £16,000 for the charity Dogs for the Disabled.

Captains Ange Taylor and Phil Guise got together with other club members to generate the funding for the charity, which provides dogs to assist those with disabilities in moving around in their homes.

The charity Plans to use the money to pay for three new dogs, all of which will be placed with people in Redditch suffering from serious physical disabilities.

A number of events are held at the golf club during the course of the year to help with the fundraising efforts, including quiz nights, charity auctions, raffles and golf days.

Guise told the local press that he considered the work undertaken by the charity to be profoundly moving and that raising the money for it had capped a memorable year for him as captain. He explained:

“Dogs for the Disabled is a life-transforming charity, creating exceptional partnerships between people living with disability and specially trained assistance dogs.”

As with other local sports clubs, Redditch Golf Club is able to rely on Stationery printing in Redditch to ensure that it has the official club items that it needs.

Originally, the plan had been for the campaign to generate sufficient funds for one new dog to be trained and subsequently placed, ensuring the final total greatly exceeded expectations.
