Redditch firm recognised for safety

GKN Plc. won a prize for its safety improvements at the regional EEF Future Manufacturing Awards.

GKN is involved in the manufacture of automotive and aviation systems. It could use newsletter printing in Redditch if it wanted to use its achievement for promotional reasons. Martin Smith, the director at GKN who is responsible for health and safety, told the Redditch Advertiser what the accolade meant to him:

“Not only does it demonstrate the valuable contribution made by local manufacturers like ourselves, but it also puts us on the map as a modern and innovative company- safety is our number one priority.”

Mr. Smith praised the dedication of the team who had made the effort. He also said how happy everyone was to have secured the prize, mentioning how important it will be to share the positive news with suppliers, staff and customers.

A judging panel chose to give GKN the prize. A variety of academics, business people and industry experts cooperated to make the decision.

The regional contest took place at a venue called At-Bristol. This is situated on Anchor Road. At-Bristol is reportedly one of the top science centres within the UK. It has charitable status and its mission is about education.

The winning organisation will now take its place in the national finals. They will be hosted in the capital during the early part of 2016.
