Redditch charity gets funding boost

A charity in Redditch that provides support for some of the most vulnerable people in the local area has received the news it will be given significant additional funding.

The Sandycroft Centre is situated on West Avenue, in the Smallwood district of Redditch, and offers support and care to people who suffer from mental health conditions. It is one of a number of charities that will be given additional financial help through a fund that was set up by the Government in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the spring, the Government announced a support package totalling £76 million targeted at vulnerable groups in society, and £25 million of it was to be given to charities in Wales and England that fit the criteria. The money is being divided between more than 500 different charities, with the Sandycroft Centre set to receive £28,074.

Charities sometimes use Stationery printers based nearby to keep them supplied with all of the Forms they need for administrative purposes, such as applying for grants and funding.

Speaking to the Redditch Advertiser, the centre’s CEO, Lee McKenzie, said:

“What’s unique about this funding is that the Government has recognised the vital role of specialist independent providers like Sandycroft.”

He went on to add that the decision to award the money to the centre was recognition of how important it is to those it serves.
