Park in Redditch to be given makeover

A huge park in Redditch will be given an expensive makeover that is designed to improve the facilities on offer for children, with the funding needed for the work having been secured.

Arrow Valley Country Park is a space measuring 900 acres and is a focal point for the local community. Now its main play section for children will be significantly expanded thanks to the provision of £85,000 from the levelling up fund set up by the Government. Among other things, a teqball table – a game that combines table tennis and football – and an inclusive basket swing will be added to it.

Families living in Redditch have been trying to get play equipment that is suitable for children with disabilities incorporated into this play area for some time. However, that is not the only thing that the funding will be used for.

Some of it will go towards the creation of a community orchard in another section of the park. A minimum of 25 fruit trees from the Worcestershire area will be planted there.

There will also be a bigger nature trail complete with information leaflets for visitors to the park. There are Redditch outlets that supply flyer printing that could potentially help with the provision of those.

The trees will be planted during the winter, while the expanded play section will open next spring.
