Outdoor market to be restored in Redditch

The centre of Redditch is once more set to play host to an outdoor market, after the borough council revealed that Plans to restore it have now been voted through by a majority.

There has not been a market of this kind in the town for five years, but the Redditch Labour Group included restoring it as part of its manifesto. Now it is to deliver on that promise, after securing enough votes at a recent meeting of Redditch Borough Council. The proposal that won approval will see a market open for business across three days each week.

It will feature 20 stalls, with the council indicating that these will offer quality items to buy. The Plans also leave room for the market to open on additional days, when it is deemed a special occasion.

Promotional Products that can be given away and that are created by local shops are just one of the options that market stall traders will have to advertise, when the market is ready to re-open.

Joe Baker from the council told the Redditch Advertiser that he was pleased a manifesto pledge was being honoured. He then added:

“We want to re-invigorate the area running down from the church past the library with regular, vibrant, good quality markets.”

The hope is that the revived market will be ready to launch ahead of Christmas.
