What's Happening in Redditch, England…

Legendary folk band to come to Redditch

One of the longest running and most successful bands dedicated to traditional music will be visiting Redditch this spring, as a stop on their forthcoming tour of the country.

The Dublin Legends are iconic within folk music circles and have enjoyed a long career in the business. Their repertoire consists of classic folk songs from Ireland, and it has made them hugely popular in that country and the UK.

The band first formed back in 1962 and are still going strong today, despite the passing of vocalist Barney McKenna 13 years ago. During the decades up to that point, they went by the name The Dubliners.

The four current members are Shay Kavanagh, Gerry O’Connor, Paul Watchorn and Sean Cannon. They will be taking to the road this year, and one of their planned shows is in Redditch. The Palace Theatre in the town will serve as the venue for it.

Redditch venues that host live shows sometimes turn to local shops that offer poster printing when they need to advertise them.

Among the famous tunes that audiences can expect to hear during the show are ‘The Wild Rover’, ‘Dirty Old Town’ and ‘Whiskey in the Jar’. The band are promising that they will perform songs from throughout their long career.

The Dublin Legends will be playing in Redditch on 7 March.
