Funding for four community projects in Redditch

Four Redditch-based community initiatives have received support from the National Lottery.

Lottery money approaching £40,000 has been allocated to the various projects. The separate schemes all aspire to build community cohesion and add to wellbeing. Leaflets from Redditch may be used to promote community work in the region.

Bromsgrove Urban and Rural Transport will employ the extra income on a community engagement strategy. The hope is that an increasing number of people can be encouraged to participate in volunteering. If this happens, the local skills base will be upgraded and there will be other positive social outcomes.

The £10,000 which Forge Mill Needle Museum has received shall be invested in another community-based strategy. This will consist of two strands of work. The first approach will involve the management of creative workshops, and the second will focus on the hosting of a competition. This contest will encourage the participation of young people and families.

The What’s Your Point? health group shall spend some of its new funds on people affected by poor self-esteem. The idea is that valuable life skills can be shared with vulnerable families. These tips should enhance the quality of life of those who receive them.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church intends to use its share of the resources to launch a study. This will explore the practical ways in which the needs of the community can be addressed.
