Contractor chosen for Redditch fire and police station

Redditch is now one step closer to getting a brand new combined fire and police station, with the confirmation that a contractor has been chosen to handle the construction of the building.

Herefordshire & Worcestershire Fire & Rescue Service (HWFRS) is teaming up with West Mercia Police on the project to provide the town with a new centre that will combine both of these two emergency services. Together, they have opted to hire Speller Metcalfe to deliver this new facility, which is set to be located on Middle House Lane, Redditch.

The total cost of constructing it has been budgeted at £17.6 million. The majority of that sum – 64% - will be covered by the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC). The fire service will provide the remaining 36% of it.

When it is completed, the building will be made up mostly of office space, but there will also be shared meeting and conference amenities, a gymnasium and a kitchen. An appliance bay will be built for the fire engines, alongside a drill tower and accommodation for the fire brigade.

Businesses in Redditch that provide printed Letterheads can help local services like these when it comes to official letters that they have to send out to residents of the town.

The expected date for the new building to be completed and ready for use is 2024.
