These local projects can get thousands of pounds from the process. Local citizens have the chance to get their votes registered as part of the scheme. The Aviva Community Fund (ACF) is behind the initiative. So far, five Redditch-based groups have made applications for resources. The organisations which prosper can use leaflets from Redditch to promote their activities in the future.
Karen Lumley, the local MP, has been urging her constituents to take part in the ACF scheme. This is in part because the voting deadline has been set before the end of the month. Lumley stated:
“Everyone gets ten votes and you can choose to give all ten to a single project or split them between a number of projects.”
Lumley added that there were two other reasons for people to engage with the vote. Firstly, she said that the projects were all really worthwhile. Secondly, she underlined the potential of the activities to have a beneficial impact locally. The winners from the voting process will be declared early next year.
A range of Redditch organisations have put themselves forward. These include First Church Hill Scout Group, Redditch Cricket, Hockey and Rugby Club, and Homestart NE Worcestershire. The scout group is hoping to improve amenities which were built during the 1970s.
