Taz Habib has become known in the local area for her fundraising feats on behalf of the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA). This charity is connected to the Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Pakistan that provides poor people with cancer treatment at no charge. The latest challenge that she has set herself in support of it is to run the 26-mile London Marathon, with a sponsorship target of £3,000.
She is currently in training for what will be a serious test of her fitness and resolve. Talking to a reporter from the Redditch Standard, Habib, who was a pupil at Bridley Moor High School, said that she had been raising money for the charity for a decade and a half.
She then went on to add that:
“Although this is the lowest altitude challenge, it will be my biggest challenge yet as I have never participated in any long-distance running before.”
Habib has set up a sponsorship page on the Just Giving website. Flyer printing from outlets in Redditch can also help to promote the efforts of those undertaking charity fundraisers.
The London Marathon for 2024 is scheduled to take place on Sunday 21st April.
