Tribute ceremony held in Potters Bar area

The community in the Potters Bar area gathered together recently for a unique Christmas ceremony, to pay tribute to their lost loved ones.

The Lights of Love event was organised by Peace Hospice Care and took place beneath the giant Christmas tree beside the local Mops and Brooms public house.

With the lights from the tree shining in memorial, a wall nearby was covered in messages written by those attending the ceremony.

Local events of this sort often make use of Print shops in Potters Bar and similar areas, to provide tribute programmes.

The fundraising director for the hospice, Ropinder Gill, stated:

“The hospice cares for many patients and families in Potters Bar and this event is an important part of our year. We will continue that support by raising more than £4 million in charitable income a year.

“We thank all the sponsors tonight for their donations and we thank all the volunteers for their support.”

He went on to state that the hospice was grateful to the community for the work they had done to raise funding on behalf of Peace Hospice Care, which enables the facility to provide continuing support to people with serious illnesses, as well as their families.

The Lights of Love Christmas Tree was switched on by Peter Finn, from nearby Borehamwood, whose wife was cared for by the hospice.
