Potters Bar to screen Shakespeare

A film of one of William Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies will be shown at a theatre in Potters Bar this spring.

In association with National Theatre Live (NT Live), Potters Bar is presenting a filmed performance of Shakespeare’s Othello. The production was captured specifically for the big screen on stage at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket and features an all-star cast known for their appearance in film and television.

Cinemas and theatres often call upon reliable poster printing services to produce engaging ads for the titles they present to help drive ticket sales.

The filmed five-act play is helmed by Tony Award-winning director, Tom Morris OBE and has music from indie icon PJ Harvey. It features English actor of Homeland fame, David Harwood OBE in the titular role accompanied by Toby Jones (Harry Potter, Indiana Jones V and the Hunger Games series) as Iago and Caitlin FitzGerald (Succession) as Desdemona.

NT Live is a Royal National Theatre initiative that started back in the summer of 2009. It broadcasts live stage performances of the theatre’s productions to arts centres and cinemas using satellite technology.

Othello will be on screen at Wyllyotts Theatre on Wednesday, March 4 and Monday, March 9 at various times. The theatre is sited at Wyllyotts Place on Darkes Lane in Potters Bar.

The play has earned multi-star reviews from critics at The Telegraph and The Mail on Sunday.
