A new East Coast Mainline train was recently unveiled on platform seven of London Kings Cross train station as part of a marketing campaign for the latest James Bond film, Skyfall.
The train then went on to pass through platform three of Potters Bar train station, giving onlookers a full view of the carriages which have been wrapped in specially printed full colour wraps featuring characters and logos from the film.
Naming a train after a film is a new move in the world of movie promotions, and stunts like this are proven to generate awareness. These promotional stunts are particularly effective when integrated into a wider marketing and advertising campaign featuring more traditional promotional collateral. Other campaigns have been known to utilise leaflet and poster printing.
Potters Bar fans of Daniel Craig may have felt their commute become somewhat more enjoyable thanks to the train, which is promoting the release of the Blu-Ray and DVD versions of the film.
Karen Boswell, the managing director of East Coast trains, spoke about the new train, saying:
“We’re thrilled that actors, producers and writers from the most successful Bond film are joining us on-board our newly named Skyfall train. It’s really exciting to launch an East Coast train as ‘Skyfall’ and I am sure our customers will look forward to travelling on it too.”
The Skyfall East Coast Mainline train completed its journey in Scotland.
