Potters Bar to host open garden event

As part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS), a local residence will open its gates to visitors in Potters Bar this spring.

The NGS provides visitors with a chance to access more than 3,500 private gardens of an exceptional standard in England and Wales. In doing so, visitors are helping to raise substantial funds for health and nursing charities through admission fees, cakes and teas. To date, the scheme has accumulated a sum totalling £60 million for the benefit of such good causes.

The Potters Bar garden set to open to the public is located in Northaw Park. The three-acre site is composed of an area of woodland and a field incorporating a wildflower meadow. There is also a half-acre of land surrounding the house, and a lawn with boundaries defined by an unusual mix of border plants.

Visitors to the garden will find plentiful seating, from the sunken firepit to the patio benches situated below the pergola. The gardens offer tranquil and pleasant views up towards Northaw village.

Entry costs £5 for adults, with children entering for free. There will also be an opportunity for some refreshment in the form of homemade teas. Print shops are often a useful resource when it comes to promoting a local event like this.

As part of the NGS, 39 Firs Wood Close is due to open between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday, 16th May in Potters Bar.
